How we build the index

  1. Prices come from restaurants' own websites, menus and menu photos.
  2. No delivery-app prices. When we checked, DoorDash ran 0 to 15% higher, most often about 10%.
  3. Like with like: lattes only at 12 oz, drip and cold brew at each place's smallest cup.
  4. Chef-driven, neighborhood and quick spots each get their own median.
  5. A price shows only when 3 or more places list it.
  6. Updated monthly.
