How we build the index
- Prices from DoorDash menus, before fees. When we checked 52 Seattle restaurants against their own menus, DoorDash prices ran 0 to 15% higher, most often about 10%. About 1 in 4 charged the same.
- Every other index uses restaurants' own menus, no delivery-app prices.
- Like with like: each place's regular bowl by broth (tonkotsu, shoyu, miso, spicy, vegetarian), gyoza per piece.
- Chef-driven, neighborhood and quick spots each get their own median.
- A price shows only when 3 or more places list it.
- Updated monthly.
